Leavenworth Dental Implants at First City Dental Care

Are You a Candidate For Dental Implants?

Do you have missing teeth? If so, you could be a candidate for dental implants. There are some conditions and diseases that will affect whether dental implants are right for you. Some of those are cancer, radiation to your jaw, perio disease, uncontrolled diabetes, smoking and alcoholism. It is crucial that you inform your dentist about all of your medical conditions (past and present) as well as all of the medications you are taking, whether prescribed, alternative (herbal) or over-the-counter.

There are several determining factors on where and how implants are placed. A detailed exam, study models of your mouth and bite, and a 3D scan (x-ray) known as computerized tomograms (CT scans) are all part of the planning process. Along with a computer imaging software that ensures your dental implants can be placed in exactly the right position in the bone.

How do Implant Tooth Replacements Differ From Teeth?

The biggest differences are in the way they respond to dental disease, attach to the surrounding bone, their maintenance, and repair.

Dental implants are metal and do not decay, thus, there is no need for fillings or root canals.

Teeth are susceptible to dental decay, which would require fillings, root canals or even crowns, they are also susceptible to periodontal disease.

What are Implants Made of?

The majority of dental implants are made of titanium, which is lightweight and biocompatible. Dental implants have the highest success rate of any implanted surgical device. In short, it is the most compatible Meta with the human body. Titanium is the most widely used metal in dental and other bone implants, such as orthopedic joint replacements.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Today, there’s no need to merely imagine how nice it would be to have a dental crown fabricated in a single visit. With technology and advanced systems of care, multiple trips to the dentist are a thing of the past! Now, one appointment is all it takes for our skilled and experienced dentist to design, fabricate, and place a naturally beautiful and long-lasting same-day crown. And, best of all, unlike conventional methods of care, you won’t have to endure messy dental impressions, wear a temporary crown, or wait weeks for your permanent restoration to come back from the laboratory.

But even the best toothbrush can’t fully cleanse the spaces between your teeth. That’s why the American Dental Association recommends you floss once a day to remove food particles and plaque – the sticky film on your teeth that can lead to cavities and gum disease.

While it may be surprising, a study has found that flossing first followed by brushing with a fluoride toothpaste is more effective in removing interdental plaque than brushing first, flossing second. In addition, flossing before brushing results in greater fluoride retention between teeth.
